Since this trip is not ALL about me I wanted to make sure my husband got some fishing in. Who knew that Kenya’s high country has excellent trout fishing!?
In addition to my husband’s love for fly fishing I have clients that love it as well and to find fish in spectacular destinations- Lake Rutundu and Lake Alice did NOT disappoint!
It seems the British that originally came to East Africa couldn’t live without their beloved fishing for trout on fly rods and introduced rainbow trout to the streams and lakes of Mt. Kenya.
Meanwhile, I rode a horse up to Rutundu. Through open plains filled with waterbuck, gazelle, and buffalo to the elephant corridor and through the forests where I saw my first black and white colubus monkey and flowering wild red hot poker.
Of course Rutundu Lodge was made famous by Prince William as he chose this magical.place to propose to Kate Middleton
